The Video Store In Levittown To Close

LEVITTOWN, PA — The Video Store, believed to be both Bucks County's first and last video rental shop, is closing its doors for good.

The shop, on New Falls Road in Levittown, will go out of business on Sept. 30, its owners have announced. A "Retirement Sale" began last week.

"The Video Store has been a successful business thanks to all Bucks County residents, especially in the lower county," owners John and Alice Tardino said in a Facebook post. "We deeply appreciate your kindness and patronage through all the years, and all the moves. To our customers, many who became friends, we will miss you."

In 1981, as the home-video boom began, the Tardinos opened their first storefront. Through the years, they have expanded and downsized in response to customer demands, adding services like notary, video transfers, passport photos and fingerprinting to their video rentals.

Now, the couple says, it's time for them to retire.

As part of a retirement sale, which began Friday, all of the store's inventory, including movies, is selling for 50% off of retail prices. Customers may also buy three items and get a fourth for free, the store announced.

The Video Store is located at 4350 New Falls Rd., Suite C, Levittown.
