Woof-A-Palooza Run In Middletown Is Nov. 3
The five-mile, 5K and two-mile fun walk (which allows dogs) will benefit the Middletown Police Department's K9 units.

MIDDLETOWN, PA — In November, Core Creek Park will be going to the dogs.
This year's fundraising race by the Middletown Community Foundation has been dubbed Woof-A-Palooza and proceeds from the 5K, five-mile and two-mile runs and walks will benefit police K9 units.
The event will be held Sunday, Nov. 3 at the park.

The races and run/walks will be held entirely in Core Creek Park, which is expected to be sporting its finest fall foliage by early November. This year will be the first the event includes a 5K, said Middletown Community Foundation director Paula Kearns.
The five-mile Race is USA Track and Field certified and awards will be handed out.

Funds raised through Woof-A-Palooza will support the Middletown Township Police
Department’s K9 unit. The township is looking to purchase new equipment for the working dogs
and also obtain an additional dog.
Last year’s race supported the purchase of two new police dogs, stab-proof vests for the highly-trained dogs, and other supplies. The police department will have K9 officers at the event for a public demonstration.
"This is a great way to get outside and enjoy fall while keeping healthy and supporting the hard
work of the Middletown police officer, whether they have four paws or two feet,” Middletown
Community Foundation Chairman Jim Merrill said.
Woof-A-Palooza will also feature a dog-friendly family fun walk through the scenic paths of Core Creek Park. Leashed pets are allowed only in the untimed fun walk. No pets are permitted in the five-mile or 5K races.
Groups of 10 or more can register for a discount rate, and for those hearty souls, a special rate is available for those running both the 5K and the five-mile race.
There will be a free race t-shirt for the first 150 entries received through October 17. Also, all leashed dogs attending Woof-A-Palooza will receive a bandanna to show their support for the police K9 program.
