Aging 76-Year-Old Bridge To Be Reconstructed In Limerick
The bridge carries some 12,600 vehicles per day, officials said. A road closure will be in place for months.
LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction will begin next week to rehabilitate an aging 76-year-old bridge in Limerick and Perkiomen townships.
The 33-foot bridge over Lodal Creek, built in 1950, carries roughly 12,600 vehicles per day, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Lane closures will be in place on northbound Township Line Road, from Graterford Road to Mayberry Road, from Aug. 17 through Aug. 21. Work will be ongoing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Then from Aug. 24 to Oct. 25, Township Line Road will be closed 24 hours a day over that same stretch between Graterford Road and Mayberry Road.
The detour for roughly two months will take drivers to Perkiomen Avenue/Limerick Road, Route 73, Route 29, and Ridge Pike/Main Street.

Crews will replace the superstructure of the bridge, install a new reinforced concrete deck, and replace the barriers and guiderail. The roadway will also be milled and improved on the approach to the bridge.
Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses.
It's part of a $16.2 million investment in 14 bridges across the Philadelphia region.
