UPPER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — A large fire destroyed a greenhouse at an Upper Providence business on Thursday night, though quick work by first responders limited the damage.
The incident occurred at around 7:15 p.m. at Wojton's Nursery on Main Street.
Trappe Fire Company's Ladder 77 forced entry into the greenhouse, laid a supply line, and used multiple hand lines to contain the blaze.
Squad 68 of the Upper Providence Township Department of Fire and Emergency Services helped supply water and deploy hand lines as the fire was stopped from reaching other greenhouses.
No one was injured.
Main Street was closed for hours during the incident.
Wojton's was able to open on Friday despite the incident.
"We’re so thankful that no one was injured," they shared Friday. "And we appreciate how so many of you reached out to make sure we were okay. We are incredibly thankful for the MANY firefighters and emergency personnel who came so quickly and worked so hard to keep us and everyone around us safe. There are not enough words to express our gratitude."
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Numerous other departments assisted on the scene, including the Limerick Fire Department, Perkiomen Township Fire Department, Collegeville Fire Company, Skippack Fire Company, and Lower Frederick Fire Company.
