LIMERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — The Federal Aviation Administration is continuing to investigate the crash of a World War II plane at Limerick's Heritage Field last week which left the pilot injured.
The incident occurred on Sept. 9 just after 7 p.m.
The plane was identified by the Aviation Safety Network as a North American AT-6D Harvard III. It was used in the 1940s to train pilots for combat.
The pilot, the lone occupant of the plane, took off from Bucks County.
It's not yet clear what caused the issues upon landing at Heritage Field.
The pilot became trapped after landing as the plane flipped upside down. First responders, including Limerick Police, Limerick Fire Department, Freedom Valley EMS, and airport staff extracted the pilot.
The pilot's injuries were not life threatening and were treated at a nearby hospital.
