The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center will host this spectacular event September 17 - September 20, 2026 featuring over 1000 works of textile art. Additionally, the festival offers vendors, hands on workshops, lectures, a fashion show and product demos. Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza is the center of it all for quilt, wearable and textile art! A highlight of this year’s event is a special exhibition by 7-time Tony Award-winning actor and playwright Harvey Fierstein. Best known for writing La Cage aux Folles and Kinky Boots and starring as Edna in Hairspray, Harvey has been making quilts for more than 30 years. During the COVID lockdown, his passion for quilting flourished, inspiring a remarkable collection of quilt art that the Extravaganza is thrilled to premiere. In addition, the festival will display over 30 special exhibitions from regional guilds such as the Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guild, PieceMakers Quilters and the Sankofa Artisans, travelling quilt collections and the annual national judged competition. Large full-body mounts include a Kamchatka Russian brown bear diorama by Bob’s Wildlife Taxidermy, featuring two bears on a custom base, a European brown bear taken in Romania, an additional brown bear, musk ox, Dall sheep, lion, African Limpopo bushbuck, mountain lion, red duiker, baboon, and badger. Bear material also includes a tagged tanned black bear hide and black bear taxidermy rug.
African game makes up a substantial portion of the auction. Species include Cape buffalo, sable antelope, greater and lesser kudu, gemsbok, Beisa oryx, waterbuck, impala, nyala, roan antelope, gerenuk, Grant’s gazelle, Soemmering’s gazelle, red hartebeest, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, black and blue wildebeest, blesbok, springbok, bushbuck, reedbuck, dik-dik, steenbok, duiker, puku, warthog, zebra, hyena, and lion. The catalog also includes a giraffe skull and a fiberglass rhino shoulder mount.
North American game includes an Alaskan brown bear, American bison, western buffalo, elk, pronghorn antelope, mountain lion, mule deer, and numerous whitetail deer mounts, including 8-, 10-, and 11-point examples. Additional international mountain and game species include Himalayan tahr, chamois, Argali, Siberian ibex, Scandinavian caribou, Mongolian gazelle, red stag, and red deer.
Other sporting material includes mounted antler and skull trophies, a mounted largemouth bass, and an alligator hide rug with mounted head. One African puku shoulder mount is specifically identified in the catalog with Werner Taxidermy.
This auction presents a concentrated collection of taxidermy ranging from large full-body bear and lion displays to African plains game, deer, elk, mountain species, hides, skulls, and trophy mounts.

The Chorister Academy at Augustus is one of the best ways in the Philadelphia region to provide your child with a tuition-free, world-class music education.

Our highly-regarded chorister program provides children and youth ages 7 - 17 with outstanding professional choral training, music theory instruction, leadership development, choir camps and trips. No previous musical experience is required, only an eagerness to learn and the ability to match pitch.

The Chorister Academy is open to families of all faith backgrounds and walks of life. Choristers, through their shared pursuit of musical excellence, develop focus, empathy, and teamwork skills as they build lasting friendships along the way.

During the academic year, choristers rehearse on Thursday afternoons from 4:00-5:30 and on Sunday mornings at 9:30, before the 10:30 service of Holy Communion. Choristers are trained to sing on a professional level and join adults in the Augustus Parish Choir to form a cohesive intergenerational choir. The choir sings a broad range of choral repertoire from the 16th century to present day.

MALVERN, Pa. &mdash; The Transportation Management Association of Chester County is inviting residents who usually drive alone to test one different way to work during National TDM Week, September 14 through 18.Transportation Demand Management, commonly called TDM, brings together practical strategies that give travelers more choices and help the transportation network carry people more efficiently. Those strategies include carpooling and vanpooling, public transportation, biking and walking, flexible or compressed schedules, remote work, trip planning, commuter benefits, and clearer travel information.
&ldquo;This is not an argument against the car, and it is not a demand for a perfect commute,&rdquo; said P. Timothy Phelps, executive director of TMACC. &ldquo;We are asking people to look at one workday and ask whether that trip could happen differently. One thoughtful experiment can show a commuter what works and show employers and communities what still needs to improve.&rdquo;
The latest available U.S. Census Bureau estimate underscores the opportunity. In 2024, an estimated 195,010 Chester County workers age 16 and over drove alone to work, representing 67.8 percent of county workers. An estimated 59,166 worked from home, or 20.6 percent. The American Community Survey figures describe workers&rsquo; usual means of transportation to work; they are not daily vehicle counts.
TMACC encourages commuters to choose an option that fits their actual lives. A resident might share a ride with a colleague, check a public transportation route, bicycle or walk when a safe connection exists, shift the workday outside the busiest travel period, or work remotely when the job and employer permit it. Employees who already work remotely one day can ask whether they can have preferred parking when sharing a ride.
TDM also depends on institutions. Employers can offer commuter benefits, preferred carpool parking, secure bicycle storage, flexible schedules, and clear hybrid-work expectations. Municipalities, planners, and transportation providers can strengthen the sidewalks, trails, transit connections, information, and land-use patterns that turn an option into a reliable choice.
Throughout the week, TMACC will publish practical information for Chester County commuters and invite residents to share what would make a different trip possible. The campaign supports the 2026 TDM Week theme, &ldquo;The Power of Transportation Options.&rdquo;
&ldquo;The first question is not, &lsquo;Can I change every commute?&rsquo;&rdquo; Phelps said. &ldquo;It is, &lsquo;Which one trip could I try?&rsquo; Start there, pay attention to the experience, and keep what works.&rdquo;
