Dance Your Way To A Better Golf Swing

The golf swing has often times been compared to a dance step. It is rhythmic, smooth, and moves back and forth. So let's take a look at these three components to help improve your golf game and possibly your social life.

The timing of a golf swing is an individual thing. Some are a little fast (Tom Watson), and some are slow (Fred Couples). However, they always remain constant. I suggest you think of a nice slow song in order to keep a good rhythm to your swing.

A smooth swing is also important to maintain consistency. This starts at the very beginning of the swing, by turning the shoulders and arms in one piece away from the ball. Any herky-jerky movements by the hands will cause the club to get in poor positions and be different every swing.

The third component is the movement of a swing. A common problem for a lot of golfers is the reversal weight shift. This occurs when the weight is on the left during the backswing, then shifts back to the right on the downswing. This is the exact opposite of what should happen. A nice smooth movement to the right leg will load up your power to be released on the downswing when shifting the weight to the left side for a full balanced follow through.

It has often been said that a good dancer will make a good golfer. Well, I also believe that by putting these three components into your golf swing, you may actually become a better dancer.
