Mr Stinkas and The Royersford Halloween Parade!

Mr Stinkas and his cheese mobile rode proudly down Main Street Wednesday night!

When I moved to Royersford from Philadelphia 13 years ago, one night in October a mother asked me if I was going to the Halloween Parade. Halloween Parade? Not knowing the what, when, and where, I gathered my children up and followed the crowds.

There we stood a 3rd and Main and watched kids in costume, floats, fire trucks (a personal favorite), and candy flying towards the hungry crowds.

Thirteen years later I not only knew the what, when, where, but the how, too! The man at Christman Jewelers began to see my smiling face every Tuesday morning starting in September as I inquired as to how to get into the parade.

In early October I filled out the form, was handed lucky number 438 and The Mr Stinkas Float was officially in the Annual Halloween Parade!!

My husband took our little trailer that has worked as a moving van, a supply truck, and our Christmas tree carrier,  and transformed it into a cheese mobile fit for a king!

Mr Stinkas rode proudly down Main Street as little ones waved and pointed. He danced in his cheese mobile.  The Author (Kevin) walked along providing information about the book.  And adorable girls handed out candy along the way. Moms and Dads read the sign. "Who is Mr Stinkas? Oh, it's a Children's book. Local author. MrStinkas.com, I'll have to check that out as soon as I get home!!" (Well, they might have said that)

Even though my heart pounded for fear of a little one suddenly running into my path as I drove our float, I was comforted with the knowledge that we had dedicated volunteers from The Rotary Club watching and directing the children to a safe vantage point.

It was a wonderful time! This is what community is all about. Take it from a city girl, you don't get chances to come out and celebrate with friends and neighbors like this everywhere. These memories will last a lifetime. They are precious and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Thank you to everyone that works so hard to make this event happen every year! We appreciate it and look forward to next year!!!
