Santa Shops the Neighborhood!

Twas just days before Christmas when all through the town,

All the people were stirring, with nary a frown.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

The trees all decked out; no tinsel was spared.

The parents then nestled all snug in their beds,

While Neighborhood visions did dance through their heads:

The streets they all sparkled, the lights green and cherry,

Store owners bid customers grins wide and merry.

When out on the streets there arose such a clatter,

We sprang from the stores to see what was the matter!

Away to the windows some flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sashes.

Street lamps on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a jolly big sleigh and eight flying reindeer!

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than Small Business shoppers he came,

And he whistled, and shouted and called them by name:

Sweet Ashleys, Beth’s Flowers, Bauses’ Bees and Kolb’s Farm!

To Christman’s, Schuylkill Valley, Bike Sport, Country Charm.

To the top of his sleigh, to the top of his sack,

Bought presents for all; each year he came back.

And we heard him exclaim, ‘ere he flew out of sight,

Shop local, be loyal, 3/50 –it’s right!
