Saving Money on Your Winter Heating Bills
Tip to help you lower heating bills during the winter time. Brought to you by Platinum Plumbing & Heating.

While we will probably have a few more hot days that make it feel like summer all over again, the cold weather is coming. Nights are getting cooler, some have already turned on their heaters to keep warm throughout the chilly nights. But as the weather gets colder, our heating bills rise.
A programmable thermostat, usually around $40 to $50, can end up paying for itself and saving you money. You can program the thermostat according to your family's schedule, lowering the heat during the day if everyone is out of the house at work or school, and turning it back up right before you arrive home. You can also lower it once everyone is tucked into bed and have the heat turn back up a little before your alarm goes off.
According to ABC News, lowering the temperature by 10 to 15 degrees while you are at work can save you up to 10 percent of heating costs. And lowering the temperature by just 1 degree all the time will save about 3 percent of your bill.
