Spring-Ford Routs Phoenixville 14-4 in Boys Lacrosse

Spring-Ford Boys Lacrosse Heats Up in routing Phoenixville 14-4 in PAC-10 action.

A beautiful, warm spring day, seemed to trigger a new trajectory for Spring-Ford Boys Lacrosse team. Spring-Ford has been trying to find the cohesivenesss and rhythm a team with this much talent and depth needs to have to make a long run in the post season. After struggling to find any of it along with a series of injuries, the Rams were finally able to begin to display how deep that talent runs on the lacrosse field yesterday at Phoenixville.

While most would agree that this game was far from perfect, it offered a strong indication of what this team can do both offensively and defensively.  Sophomore Zach Hare, continuing to fill in for primary face off specialist Matt Della Croce (Freshmen) out due to injury, dominated at the face off X to get the high powered Ram offense the ball and yesterday, they showed good patience, ball movement, and team execution to leave no doubt in earning it's 4th win of the year.

Paul Major got it started with the first of his 7 goals on the day, followed by goals from DJ Young, Ronak Das, and Alex Marte to build a 4-0 Rams lead halfway thru the first. On the day, Spring-Ford had 7 different goal scorers.  In addition to his 7 goals, Major had 1 assist and Alex Marte added 1 goal and 3 assists.  Ronak Das totaled 2 on the day with single tallies from Young, Casey Pettine, Alec Vagnozzi, and Mason Pinciotti.  Kevin Honaman, Liam Hare, and Ronak Das also garnered 1 assist each.

Phoenixville was led offensively by Issac Levine who notched 2 goals and 1 assist and Rob Miller and Jay Stutzman chipping in with 1 goal each.  Brian Madden and Sean Hesser drew 1 assist each on the day.  Both Nick Lolli and Henry Carkhuff stopped 4 shots each.

The Spring-Ford Defense was not to be outdone as they used a mix of man and zone defenses throughout the day to keep the Phantoms off balance.  Playing mostly man to man in the first half, they were able to keep the Phantoms off the scoreboard while the offense built up an 8-0 halftime lead.  Phoenixville was able to break into the scoring column on a nifty feed, cross crease from Madden to Miller to bury their 1st goal of the day on the Man-Up. However, after goals by Levine and Stutzman, Phoenixville still trailed 12-3 at the end of the 3rd.  Matt Messerle anchored the back line with 8 saves in 3 quarters of action.
