Support a local business- and get more for your money!

Last fall, I was really excited to hear that a local produce market called 'Produce World' was opening up in Royersford, and it was going to be within walking distance from my house. I went to check it out on opening day, and have been there multiple times since then. I've been slacking on the blogging lately, otherwise I would have told you about it sooner! 

PW stocks all varieties of fruits and vegetables (even some more obscure selections like kohlrabi), and they are all both high quality and low-priced- something you rarely see at the big-name supermarkets these days. For instance, bananas were recently 3 pounds for $1.25, and you're lucky to find them for $0.60 a pound (sale price!) at other local stores. Several brands of ORGANIC salad mix and baby spinach were $1.00. Again, huge price difference compared to other stores where similar items sell for $2-3+ dollars, even more for organic.

The fruits (haha) of my recent trip: a big box of organic spring mix, celery bunch, bag of baby carrots, 2 cucumbers, 2 red peppers, 2 heads of broccoli, 5 bananas, and 3 vidalia onions...grand total $6.75. I didn't have time to do a direct price comparison with the big market, but I probably would have easily paid double there. Who can argue that eating healthy is more expensive with prices like this?!

I could go on and on, but please check out PW for yourself! The owner is super-nice (sorry, I didn't get her name!). She said she hasn't had time to create a website or Facebook page, and you can't even Google it (I tried). She relies on word-of-mouth to generate business and it seems to be working well enough for her until she gets a little more established.
