What's Hot and What's Not- Silver Coins
What's Hot and What's Not in the Antique World- What do we do with our old silver coins? How do we sell them? How much are they worth? Who can I talk to about selling my coins?
Well- today is my first blog! There are so many topics I thought I wanted to share, but one thing keeps coming to my mind- It’s what is hot and what is not in the Antique world. So with that being said, I wanted to share a little information that I have recently learned about silver and coins. Silver coins are hot right now! As our economy has taken a dive, the price of silver and gold continues to climb on a regular basis. Although the price of silver recently dropped, that can be credited to a new law in regards to how much a buyer has to put down as a down payment on silver. The down payment percentage changed from 4% to 40% recently. But don’t fret! It will eventually increase again.
As the nice weather returned and yard sales increased, I have noticed more and more people selling coins/coin collections at yard sales because the price of silver increased, people are downsizing and liquidating their assets. Yet, they are selling their coins for almost nothing! Or when I approach people having the yard sale and ask if they have any coins or collections they want to sell, so many people say they went to a cash converter to sell their coins. A very quick way to get a small amount of cash for your coins. What people do not realize is not only do the coins have value for the silver content, but they also have value for what they are. An old Peace dollar or Morgan dollar can be very valuable, way beyond the price of an ounce of silver. I have been learning about silver coins from a man, Bob Bennett. Bob buys and sells coins and military items. He has a vast amount of knowledge and has been helping many people understand the silver and gold world right now. He also pays well! If you are in the need for information regarding silver and gold coins, currency, etc. feel free to email me and I will gladly share Bob’s information.
That’s it for today! Time to clean some great finds I bought at an auction tonight! I found some great old quilts in good condition tonight and some primitive furniture. I love buying and selling the primitives! Maybe that will be my next subject since primitives are also hot right now! If you are interested in anything specific, or would like information on something, feel free to email me or list it here and I will try to write about that topic in the near future.
