Chimney Fire Extinguished In Royersford Home

Crews had to drop firefighting materials down the top of the chimney to help extinguish the blaze.

ROYERSFORD, PA — A chimney fire was extinguished in a Royersford home on Tuesday night.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found the flue from the wood burning stove glowing red in several places.

Firefighters removed the wood from the stove and extinguished the fire where it was beginning.

Crews then dropped "chimney bombs," firefighting ansul pack rods, down the flue from the top of the roof.

The stove pipe from the first floor was also removed, and fans were used to clear smoke from the home.

All told, Royersford Fire Department was on scene for about an hour.

No injuries were reported.
