With the warm weather comes that satisfying but often dreaded rite of the season—the annual spring clean. Thanks to the programs and support services made possible by donations of clothes and household items, Goodwill helped place more than 312,000 people in jobs in the United States and Canada in 2015 .

Goodwill sells donated goods at more than 3,200 stores across the U.S. and Canada, and channels more than 85 percent of sales revenue from donated goods to provide job preparation and placement, education assistance, and other support services for people who are unemployed or underemployed. Employment is more than a paycheck. It’s a resounding victory for that person, their families and their community.

Get the kids involved
Consider making your kids part of the spring cleaning process. It is a great lesson in being tidy, but also giving back and helping the community. Give your kids a box and have them fill it up with items they want to donate. When all the boxes are full, use the Goodwill Locator App to find the nearest store then head to Goodwill. Shop a bit and find some deals of your own before heading home.
