Collapsed Bridge Over Schuylkill River Trail In Chesco Repaired

A bridge that collapsed across the Schuylkill River Trail last month has been repaired, and that stretch of trail reopened.

EAST VINCENT TOWNSHIP, PA — A bridge over the Schuylkill River Trail in East Vincent that collapsed last month has been successfully repaired, officials said.

The collapse, west of Spring City at Dairy Road, occurred back on Jan. 2. That section of trail has been closed since.

Schuylkill River Trail officials commended the bridge's owner, John Hunt, for his cooperation with Chester County Facilities and Parks department in completing the work. PECO and an outside contractor also assisted in the project.

The bridge was inspected on Saturday and the stretch of trail was approved for reopening this weekend.

Various fencing and barricades blocking the trail were being removed on Monday.
