The Raven Hill band plays hard driving, straight-up bluegrass music in the tradition of that heard in Appalachia. It is the music of Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs and those earlier who forged a new genre from the mountain music played in the early part of the 20th century. For audiences who value authentic bluegrass music, Raven Hill will certainly deliver.
The Mail Pouch Express, the band that introduced bluegrass to the Lehigh Valley got their first start in the early 1980's at a pub in the little town of Schnecksville, just north of Allentown. For nearly a decade, they performed weekly at Ye Ole Ale House, and continued performing the East Coast at festivals, the Bethlehem Musikfest and the Carter Family Homestead in Hilton VA. Their performance at the Lincoln Center "Out of Doors" summer concert series in NY was a pinnacle of success for MPE.
