Fundraiser Aims To Name Baseball Scoreboard After Lukens Boys

Organizers hope to buy and name the scoreboard in honor of the two sons of Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy who were killed in a fire.

An upcoming fundraiser at the Oaks Expo Center will benefit the family of Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Bryan Lukens, who lost his two sons in a tragic fire at his family home last year.

Organizers hope the fundraiser will allow them to purchase a scoreboard at the Central Perkiomen Youth Association's baseball field, where Bryan Jr., 11, and Parker Lukens, 6, played. The scoreboard will be named in honor of them.

The fundraiser will take place on May 18 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Expo Center. It's being organized in conjunction with the Bon Journey Tribute band.

The fire, which occurred early in the morning at the home on the 900 block of Summit Avenue in Schwenksville, took hours to extinguish.

Pennsylvania State Police determined that the fire was accidental and electrical in nature. An extension cord for a space heater on the porch malfunctioned, leading to the blaze.
