AC Moore has demonstrations every Wednesday in the summer and decided to gear this one toward kids with a Fourth of July theme. It helps bring the community and the kids into the store and gives them an opportunity to take part in hands-on activities
The Limerick AC Moore held its annual "World's Largest Card Making Event" for United States troops on Wednesday. The event took place from 3 - 6 p.m. With the goal of creating 10,000 original, hand-crafted cards for our U.S. troops and families overseas, the franchise made attempts to host one of the world’s largest "patriotic parties" according to an official release.
“I think it’s great that ACMoore is doing this for the troops, and it helps get kids in from the community out to do projects," said Taylor Rothenberger, one of the store's managers.
The United States celebrates its 235th birthday on Monday. So, the east coast retailer opened its 135 stores to provide all the supplies necessary to make original cards that express gratitude to our troops, creating one of the largest simultaneous celebrations in the country, according to the official release.

“We come out every summer for this," said Courtney Carroll, one of the mothers at the event. "The kids love it because it’s so much fun for them.”
Activities included Fourth of July themed crafts like face painting, candy decorating, t-shirt painting and more, along with a card making station where kids can make cards to send overseas to the troops.

Once the cards are finished, all the stores compile them and send them to their corporate headquarters, which then sends the cards overseas.
“I think it’s really great to have the kids come out here and experience the crafts and they can continue them on by sending them over to the troops who are fighting for us,” said Chelsea Reed, an AC Moore employee.
