Graduating seniors look back, pick favorite teachers

The Senior Impact Awards will honor 97 Spring-Ford teachers tomorrow evening.

Most of us had a favorite teacher in high school. Maybe she was funny. Maybe he cut you a break when you needed one. Maybe you just had a crush on them. Or maybe, just maybe, they possessed that elusive Holy Grail of pedagogy: the ability to infect you with their enthusiasm for a subject and make you care about it like they did.

Tomorrow night at 6:30pm, Spring-Ford's graduating seniors will honor the teachers, coaches, and other school staff who have most profoundly affected them at the Senior Impact Awards, to be held at the Spring-Ford 5/6 Center at 833 S. Lewis Road.

182 seniors submitted nominations for the awards, which asked students to describe in 50 words or less what the nominee did to make a positive impact on their lives.

"Throughout this school year, we have encouraged our faculty and staff to see the success in every student," said Superintendent Dr. Marsha Hurda in a statement released by the school district.

"A ceremony like the Senior Impact Awards represents a chance for us to honor those who truly fulfill this role, and we are excited for the opportunity to celebrate these outstanding individuals," Hurda said.
