Hays Running for 26th House Seat in Light of Court Decision
The Associated Press reports that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has thrown out the assembly redistricting plan.

According to an Associated Press Report, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has thrown out the state assembly's redistricting plan calling the plan "contrary to law."
According to the Associated Press, "The justices voted 4-3 to send the plan back to the Legislative Reapportionment Commission, and the majority said their opinion in the case, laying out the reasoning, would be released later."
Spring City Councilman Mike Hays (D) announced last week that he would be running for the open seat in the 155th District, which had been newly redrawn to include Spring City, East Pikeland, East Brandywine, West Brandywine, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, and parts of Phoenixville.

But, on Wednesday, the Pa. Supreme Court ruled that the new legislative redistricting maps are contrary to law. Since new maps cannot be drawn in time for this year's elections, all Pennsylvania House and Senate districts revert back to the old drawings, according to Hays.
"What does this mean for Spring City?" said Hays. "We remain in the 26th House seat - currently held by Rep. Tim Hennessey. Today I began gathering signatures from Democratic voters in the district to gain access to the ballot."

Despite the changes, Hays still wanted to stress his desire to make positive changes, regardless of what seat he runs for.
"I want to emphasize that most people do not care about legislative maps," he continued. "The challenges we face in Pennsylvania - education, job creation, environmental protection, and more - must be addressed whichever portion of Chester County I represent. Tim is a nice guy, but he has been working in Harrisburg since 1993 and it's time for a new voice."
The 26th District includes Coatesville, Spring City, East Vincent, East Coventry, North Coventry, Wallace, Valley, Honey Brook Township, Honey Brook Borough, Elverson, West Caln, West Nantmeal, East Nantmeal and Warwick.
