Limerick Blaze Causes $65K In Damages To Home

A fire in Limerick on Sunday caused significant damage to a home.

LIMERICK, PA -- A fire in Limerick on Sunday which has been deemed accidental caused significant damage to a home, according to the Limerick Fire Company.

Crews were first called to the scene at about noon at a home on Merion Drive.

The homeowner told arriving crews that there was "something smoldering" in the attic, Battalion Chief Scott Miles said.

Crews determined the attic was filled with smoke and that the insulation was smoldering along the wall.

Ladder 54 put up a ladder on the side of the home and ran a line from a hydrant to th home, authorities said.

Crews then began to remove siding and cut a hole in the home to extinguish the fire from the exterior.

All told, the blaze incurred about $65,000 worth of damage, the Times Herald reports.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

First responders were on the scene for about 90 minutes, Miles said.

Linfield Fire Company and Trappe Fire Company also responded to the call.
