Limerick Generating Station: Full Siren Test Will Be Held Monday

LIMERICK, PA — Anyone within 10 to 15 miles of Limerick Generating Station may hear a high-pitched, wailing alarm Monday afternoon.

The alarm is not a cause for concern and is part of routine safety testing.

The test on Monday, which will begin at 2 p.m., is a "full test" of the alarm, which is conducted semi-annually in December and June. Partial, shorter tests are held on the first Monday of each month.

If you should hear the sirens outside of normal testing periods, please know that they are not a signal to evacuate, Exelon said. Rather, you should tune in to the Emergency Alert System radio for instructions.

Emergency Alert stations are as follows: in Chester County, 90.9 and 102.9 FM, in Montgomery County, 1060, 1440, and 990 AM; and in Berks County, 830 and 1340 AM and 102.5, 107.5, and 91.3 FM.
