Limerick Generating Station Hosts Open House Wednesday

Want to learn about nuclear power and the community? The annual event helps inform residents about station operations.

The Limerick Generating Station will hold a Community Information Night on Wednesday, August 30. The annual event helps inform residents about station operations, organizers said.

Residents can tour the main control room simulator, and see details on how the plant energizes two million homes and businesses in the region.

The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the main facility located at 3146 Sanatoga Road in Pottstown.

"Community Information Night is a great opportunity to see a working nuclear station up close and meet the men and women who are dedicated to running it safely and reliably,” said Rick Libra, Limerick Site Vice President, in a press release. “We look forward to hosting this event each year and sharing our commitment to nuclear safety and environmental stewardship with our neighbors.”

Station employees will discuss topics like site security, emergency preparedness, station operations, engineering practices, environmental stewardship, industrial safety, and radiological safety.

Petrucci’s Ice Cream will provide free treats and the Linfield Fire Department will be on hand to showcase some of its equipment.

A bus will transport visitors to the simulator for those interested in a tour from the intersection of Evergreen and Sanatoga Roads.
