Limerick Nuclear Plant Holds Siren Test Monday
The nuclear station successfully held its semi-annual test Monday.
LIMERICK, PA — The Limerick Generating Station nuclear power plant held its semi-annual emergency siren test successfully on Tuesday afternoon.
The full volume test saw sirens go off for about three minutes in a 10-mile radius surrounding the plant, starting at 2 p.m. Sirens are located throughout Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties.
Officials reminded the public that the sirens were part of a planned exercise that is held twice every year, and that there was no cause for concern.

Should there be an actual emergency, the sirens are not meant to signal panic or evacuation, but rather a notice to pay attention to local announcements.
"In a real event, the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station," organizers said.
