LIMERICK, PA — The first Sheetz store moving into Wawa's territory in the greater Philadelphia area will celebrate its grand opening in Limerick on Thursday, Feb. 12.

The company says hundreds are expected to attend the celebration, which will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The event will feature free self-serve coffee and soda, giveaways including $250 in Sheetz gift cards and free Sheetz for a year, a $2,500 check donation to Philabundance, and a Sheetz branded thermal bag for anyone who donates a non-perishable food item.

The store is located on 454 West Ridge Pike. To really bring the Wawa rivalry to a head, the store is located just down the street from an existing super Wawa. It's also near the Limerick Diner.

It's not the only Sheetz incursion into Wawa territory, as a location has also been approved for Downingtown. But that store won't be open until September, according to Sheetz.

The new location in Limerick is currently hiring.

Sheetz stretches as far east as the Outer Banks, but until now, they haven't gotten closer to the Philly area than Reading in Berks County and Easton in Northampton County.
