Local Cake Artists Win Philadelphia Zoo Contest

A pair of local cake artisans have won a regional contest held by the Philadelphia Zoo.

Cake Couture, LLC, of Spring City, won the contest by collecting the most in-person votes during the Zoo's "Wild at Heart" weekend on Feb. 9-10 in combination with the most "likes" on the photos of their completed cake in the Philadelphia Zoo's Facebook album.

The company announced the win today on its own Facebook page.

Proprietors Liz Rega and Mindy Touhey assembled the cake, which depicts a zookeeper tending to a pair of, blue, cake-o-holic exotic birds, during a visit to the zoo last week.
