Maid Stole $20K In Jewelry From Home In Oaks: Cops

The house cleaner stole around $20,000 in jewelry from a local home, and then sold it, police said.

OAKS, PA — A house cleaner stole around $20,000 in jewelry from a local home and then sold it, police said.

The incident was first reported by a resident in Oaks back in Dec. 2018, police said on Wednesday.

An investigation revealed that the home's maid, Theresa Doperak, 55, had stolen the jewelery over a period of several months throughout 2018, police said.

She then pawned the jewlery at a local pawn shop, according to authorities.

She has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
