Spring-Ford wants to remind parents about a math open house this Tuesday

The following is a press release sent in by Jess Lester, representing the Spring-Ford Area School District:

ROYERSFORD - Parents will get the chance to be students again when they attend Spring-Ford Area School District's Everyday Math Open House being held from 7 to 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 11, at the , 833 S. Lewis Road in Royersford.

The evening will give elementary school parents the opportunity to learn more about Everyday Math, the K-6 math program that is used in the Spring-Ford School District. Knowing that the program's instructional strategies vary from those parents may remember, Spring-Ford holds an annual open house so parents can become more familiar with the games, algorithms and methods used to teach students the skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Parents will get to play games like "Baseball Multiplication," "Exponent Ball," "Landmark Shark," and "Name That Number" at stations that will be set up in the school. Algorithms will include "Partial Sums Addition," "Trade First Subtraction," "Partial Products Multiplication," "Lattice Multiplication" and "Partial Quotient Division."
