New Limerick Firehouse Finds Itself In Beautification Controversy: Report

The redevelopment of the Limerick Fire Company is clashing with the beautification plan for the Ridge Pike corridor.

LIMERICK, PA -- The redevelopment of the Limerick Fire Company is clashing with the beautification plan for the Ridge Pike corridor, according to a report.

The firehouse on 390 W. Ridge Pike is set to get a 6,000 square foot addition, the report states.

However, the new beautification zoning regulations would require a new development on a street adjacent to Ridge to have decorative brick or cobblestone patterns, the Pottstown Mercury reports.

The decorations would have to extend across each entrance to the firehouse, and the fire company would have to pay for the decorations, according to the report.

Some think the rule shouldn't apply to fire companies, and other think it's too expensive in general and will drive businesses away, the report states.
