Breaking: There was an oil spill in Royersford early Monday evening, authorities said.

ROYERSFORD, PA — There was an oil spill in Royersford early Monday evening, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 5 p.m. behind a home on the 600 block of Church Street, according to police.
It's not yet clear what caused the incident, which authorities described as a "home heating oil spill."

Due to the heavy rain, the oil was carried down to Chestnut Street and to 6th and Oak, making the ground slick.
There may also be an odor in the area, police said, but they said that there is no fire or explosion risk.

Royersford Fire Department, the Department of Environmental Protection, Lewis Environmental, and borough crews are on the scene working to contain the spill.
