Parish Celebrates 100th Birthday with oldest Parishioner

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish in Limerick Township celebrated the 100th Birthday of parishioner Josie Drop.

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish Honors Parishioner at Mass on her 100th Birthday.

It was a very special evening when on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the 5 PM Mass, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish, in Limerick celebrated the 100th birthday of the oldest parishioner, Josie Drop.


Josie was honored after Communion with birthday cake. The congregation, led by Pastor Paul Brandt, sang Happy Birthday to Josie and acknowledged her with resounding applause. Josie was also presented with handmade birthday cards from the students of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School. Cake then shared with all attendees after Mass.

Her story...Josie Drop (Nee Piechota) was born on April 2, 1916 in Philadelphia to John Piechota and Sophie Broda. She was first generation Polish in America. Her mother immigrated from Poland (according to the mother’s death record in 1972)


The Piechota family moved to their family farm on Pruss Hill Road in what is now considered Stowe, when Josie was an early teenager. The old address of the home was RD1, Royersford.

Josie married Joseph Drop on September 21, 1946 at St. Peter Church (One of two churches that came together to creat Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in 2006) with Father Francis Krajewski as the Presider. Her attendants were Michael Drop and Stella Piechota, her sister.

Joseph Drop died at the age of 60 on December 9, 1982, was buried at St Aloysius New Cemetery on December 13, 1982.



Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish located at 2556 Swamp Pike in Limerick Township, PA serves close to 3,000 families in the greater Limerick area. Formed in 2006 with the coming together of St. Clare Parish, Linfield and St.Peter Parish, Pottstown, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School and Child Care program serve more than 300 students under the leadership of principal, Ms. Anita Dixon and Child Care Director, Mrs. Jackie Stiles.
