Rams send Bears into hibernation, get ready for title showdown with Wildcats
PAC-10 Lacrosse Final Four: Spring-Ford 9, Boyertown 2

“We want to beat Owen J. Roberts for the PAC-10 title,” Rams senior Drew Thomas said as the season got underway back in March. “We have lost to them three years in a row and there would be no better way to go out than to beat them in the final this year as seniors.”
Following an outstanding defensive performance and clutch netminding by senior Jared Novia, which propelled the unbeaten Rams to a 9-2 win over Boyertown in the semi finals of the Pioneer Athletic Conference final four held at Owen J. Roberts high School, Thomas and his fellow seniors got their wish and will battle the Wildcats on Friday night at Coach McNelly Stadium for the PAC-10 championship.
The Rams (15-0 league, 17-1 overall) outshot the Bears by a two to one margin at 25-17 and held Boyertown scoreless for more than 26 minutes. Novia made 19 saves behind a nearly impenetrable defense led by Bjorn Ullman.

“Our defense has played great all year,’ said Novia. “Each win for us is another step in what we want to accomplish. Going undefeated in the league was pointless if we don’t win the PAC-10 title. That’s what we have worked all season for.”
Everybody knows about the vaunted Rams offense, which has been led by the quartet of Brian Bock, Drew Thomas, Paul Major and Zach Manzo all season. It was Major’s three goals that provided Spring-Ford with all of the ammunition it would need. Matt Glowacki, Brian Bock, Zach Monzo, Troy Zsostek, Thomas Phamm, and Max Ullman all pitched in to post the Rams to a 5-2 halftime lead. A stifling defensive scheme shut out Boyertown for the entire second half.

“We have four guys that are capable of scoring 60 goals each,” said Rams head coach Kevin Donnelly. “We need to score goals, of course, but like in many sports, defense wins you games. I think we have done an outstanding job at times this season in transition and we need to keep doing that going forward. I am glad that my guys want to play Owen J. I want them to feel that way. If you don’t want to beat the best, you shouldn’t be playing this game. ”
In the nightcap, Owen J. Roberts managed to hold on and beat Methacton 12-11 to set up the much anticipated showdown in the final.
