Royersford Parks and Rec Discusses First Annual Community Day

Lots of upcoming events were on the agenda at Thursday's parks and recreation meeting in Royersford.

The Royersford Parks and Recreation Committee held its monthly meeting on Thursday night with the upcoming being the main topic at hand. The is scheduled for Sept. 10 and signups are still being accepted for the classic car show and other local businesses to participate. The Business Association, which was not in attendance at the meeting, is running the event.

The event will take place between the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street, which will be closed to traffic, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Games, such as a dunk booth, will be located behind Borough Hall in the municipal parking lot. All games except the dunk tank and quarter toss will be free to the kids. Each kid can play five games for free. Additional games are $1.

Main Street will be filled with local crafters and artists as well as live music from two bands and a business expo from local participating businesses. Sign up sheets and more details about this exciting community event, can be found by visiting the Real Life in Rofo Blog. Participants interested in having a 10-by-12 table for $20 should submit applications as early as possible, as spaces fill up quickly.

The committee also discussed the upcoming Annual Royersford Halloween Parade, which will be held on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. on Main Street. Rain date is on Oct. 26. The committee plans to discuss at its next meeting, finalizing planning, setup and participants.

The “Annual Royersford Borough Summer Concert Series,” held at , wrapped this summer up with a successful turnout averaging 60-70 attendees at each concert event. Some sponsors for these concert events included , , , Unitech and .

Royersford Parks and Recreation is looking for donations and sponsors for the Annual Royersford Tree Lighting Event held on Dec. 3. Sponsors can help with funding the tree lighting, Santa and free hot chocolate for everyone that attends. This event is an annual tradition of the borough and always has an amazing turnout.

In October, the Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss the Annual Royersford home holiday decorating contest. Last year homes in Royersford were judged on how festively they were decorated for the holiday season. Prizes are still to be determined and will be awarded accordingly to contest entrants. Further details will follow after the next meeting.
