Royersford Police Have Saved 6 Lives With Naloxone

In six occasions over the past year, Royersford cops administered lifesaving doses of Naloxone, the drug which reverses opioid overdoses.

ROYERSFORD, PA — In six occasions over the past year, Royersford cops administered lifesaving doses of Naloxone, the drug which reverses opioid overdoses.

Officers began carrying Naloxone on their person in Oct. 2016, the department said.

Officers were trained to use the drug by members of the Friendship Ambulance. The Naloxone kits themselves were provided by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

The following cops were recognized by the department for saves on these dates:

  • Jan. 16: Officer Oberholtzer
  • May 20: Officer Zechman
  • July 28: Officer Godin and Corporal Fennelly
  • Sept. 25: Officer O'Keefe
  • Sept. 30: Officer Godin, Officer Zechman, Corporal Fennelly

Opioid overdose deaths are decreasing in Montgomery County for the first time in years, the DA's Office recently announced.
