Royersford Trestle Bridge Awarded $1.7M For Renovation
The rehabilitated Royersford Trestle Bridge will provide a pedestrian connection across the river, linking to a proposed new development.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Royersford and Limerick have received more than $1.7 million in grants to help rehabilitate the Royersford Trestle Bridge and to make vital connections and improvements to pedestrian walkways in the area.
Once renovated, the bridge will provide a pedestrian connection across the river, connecting to the Schuylkill River Trail and ultimately linking to a proposed new riverside development complex. The project has been in the planning phase for some time, and has been powered by a significant activist movement that's garnered support from donors around the region and presented on the project in Harrisburg.
"These grants help us build and repair our infrastructure,” State Rep. Joe Ciresi (D-Montgomery) said in announcing the funding. "This money will help ensure that our pedestrians are safer and those with different needs will be able to use our crosswalks and sidewalks."

The announcement comes as an early project proposal for a sprawling new mixed use development, Riverfront at Royersford, was presented to borough council Tuesday night. The proposal calls for restaurants, a walking trail and more, with the Trestle Bridge running into the heart of it.
Royersford will receive a total of $1 million to restore the 1,020-foot-long bridge, which dates to 1919 and connects the borough to Spring City. Ciresi called it a "crucial connector" that will "encourage alternative commutes and active lifestyles."

Limerick, meanwhile, will receive $783,421 to install concrete curbs, sidewalks, ADA crosswalks, and ADA ramps, along with other improvements, between Washington Street and Spring-Ford Area High School.
Royersford also announced they had received a grant for $200,000 to make improvements to Victory Park, rounding off an momentous week for the borough and surrounding area.
