The 250-gallon aquarium can be seen in the senior wing.

ROYERSFORD — Students from the Spring-Ford Class of 2011 showed their appreciation for the years of education and support they received by presenting the with a saltwater aquarium. Traditionally, each Spring-Ford graduating class bequeaths a remembrance to the school upon their departure. The Class of 2011 was no exception, as they bestowed upon the school a 250-gallon saltwater aquarium, complete with a dozen or more different varieties of exotic saltwater fish and shrimp. The aquarium installation was made possible by transforming a display case located by the office in the senior wing. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Dec. 22 with the 2011 class officers and members of the 2011 house office in attendance.
High School Principal Patrick Nugent said one of the class officers conceived the notion to have an aquarium installed in the school as a gift, and the plans moved forward from that point.

“Every time I walk through the hallway, I am amazed by the transformation that occurred and appreciative of this generous gift,” Nugent said. “You have to see it to believe it!”
Always keeping in mind the heart of their purpose, educators plan to incorporate the aquarium maintenance into their environmental sciences classes.
