SF SNAP to Present Dancing with the Stars

LIMERICK — Spring-Ford Superintendent Dr. David Goodin, faculty, school board members and residents are polishing their dancing shoes for SNAP’s annual “Dancing with the Stars” event, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 21 in the auditorium, 350 South Lewis Road in Royersford. During this annual event, Spring-Ford’s biggest stars come together for a unified cause and dance the night away to raise money for the district’s Students Need an Alternate Party (SNAP) — an after-prom party that provides students with a safe and fun substitute to other dangerous activities.

The “Dancing with the Stars” program — created after the hit ABC show with the same name — has 14 teams perform dance routines for the community to help raise money for SNAP. The teams, consisting of Goodin, Assistant Superintendent Allyn Roche, school board members, teachers, staff and Spring-Ford business owners, compete for votes, which are cast by attendees and the community in the form of monetary donations. The team with the most votes at the end of the evening will be awarded the coveted Mirror Ball trophy.

SNAP Chairwoman Karyn Canning said the annual event brings the community together and raises money for an important program designed with student safety in mind. Last year, 1,000 people attended the “Dancing with the Stars” fundraiser, which helped to raise approximately $20,000 for SNAP.

“This is a great program that always has the overwhelming support of the Spring-Ford community,” Canning said. “You are guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face after watching our stars show off their dancing skills.”
