Sports Brief: Postseason Continues for Some

Spring-Ford Baseball and Softball compete in Districts this week. Track & Field sends athletes to the PIAA State Championship competition.

Here is a look at this week's postseason competition:

Baseball

The Rams are coming off of a PAC-10 Championship loss to Boyertown but are not done yet. They get a first round bye in districts with the fourth overall seed (first in the PAC-10).

The boys will take on the winner of Conestoga and Central Bucks South, which is being played today. The Rams' game is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Rams Stadium.

If the boys advance, they will go on to the third round and play on Friday at 4 p.m. at Ram Stadium.

Softball

The girls also lost in the Final Four. However, their end came a little sooner than baseball with their loss to Perkiomen Valley. The Vikings went on to win the PAC-10 title.

Spring-Ford gets a first round bye in the tournament and will face the winner of West Chester East vs. Truman. The game will be played on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Ram Park.

If the girls advance, they will go on to the third round and play on Friday at 4 p.m. at Ram Park.

Track & Field

The track team sent some of its best competitors to districts over the weekend. The boys squad, as a team, placed 29th with seven points, while the girls placed 13th with 19 points.

On the boys side, the 4x800 relay ran a 7:51.90 (third place). They qualified for states with that time. They were the only competitors to state qualify for the boys. Honorable mention goes to junior Ryan Pierson cleared 13 feet in the pole vault (tied for seventh place). [Other results can be seen in the links below.]

For the girls, shined through. She'll be heading to the state competition. She'll do so in two hurdles event. White had a personal record in the 300 at 44.65 seconds (first place). She also qualified for the 100-meter hurdles at 14.85 seconds (sixth place). Senior will also be going to states. She threw 120-feet-11 in the javelin, placing fifth. That throw beat Lynch's personal and school record. [Other results can be seen in the links below.]

The PIAA State Competition takes place at Shippenburg University on Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.

Other Notes

All high school sports physicals will be held on June 1 at the Ninth Grade Center. Middle school sports will have their physicals on June 4 at the Seventh Grade Center. See the school's website for more information.

The Senior Athletic Banquet will be held on June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley Forge Radisson.
