Ryan Conway had two home runs and Cody Clarke added another as the Spring-Ford Rams pounded Conestoga in Glen Mills on Thursday, 22-11, to claim the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA Championship. The game was ended by the 10-run rule after just 4 1/2 innings.
The Rams scored in three of the four innings they went up to bat, scoring eight runs in the first, five in the third and nine in the fourth. Much to Conestoga’s credit, the Pioneers did battle back from an 8-1 deficit to lead at one point, 10-8 after three. But the Rams kept pushing, and hitting, and the Pioneers made five costly errors.
"Spring-Ford had a good group of hitters, I give them credit for that. But we gave them a lot, too. We were walking too many guys, and they got themselves into fastball counts,” said Conestoga catcher Scott Williams.
