Sports Extra: Ice hockey Rams move towards Ches-Mont playoff spot with 4-1 win over Methacton

Peter Esslinger stopped 10 of 11 Warrior shots and Tyler Hoffman scored two goals as Spring-Ford upset Methacton, 4-1, on Friday night at the Center Ice Complex in Oaks.

With the win, the Rams extended their unbeaten streak to six games and moved into a second place tie with Methacton.  They also pushed ahead of Perkiomen Valley in the standings by one point.  Spring-Ford has two games in hand on each club.

With four games remaining in the regular season schedule, the Rams (5-4-3) moved closer to clinching one of the American division's four playoff berths.

Hoffman's two goals continued his assult on the league scoring charts. Hoffman also added an assist. Drew Hunsberger scored a goal and was credited with two assists on the night.

Ryan Booth, who scored the eventual game winner in the first period, also added an assist to stretch his consecutive game points streak to four.

The Rams next take the ice tonight at 9:15pm at Iceline in West Chester as they will face off against Downingtown West (1-11-1).
