Spring City and East Vincent Township Citizens Encouraged to Attend Tonight's Meeting
The East Vincent Township Board of Supervisors meets tonight and there's a huge item on the agenda concerning Spring City and even Royersford residents, too.

With the recent news of the Royersford-Spring City Bridge coming up, it's both only ironic and appropriate that a big happening will be coming out of East Vincent Township that may directly affect the traffic in Spring City and Royersford.
The Board of Supervisors meeting takes place tonight at 7 p.m. at 262 Ridge Rd., also known as the East Vincent Township Building. The board will continue talks that left off in June about turning the former Jones Motor property into a commercial retail center that is approximately the size of the King of Prussia Mall.
The Concerned Citizens of East Vincent (CCOEV), however, have put together a petition to be given to the board "telling the Supervisor's we don't want a huge regional size mall in our township and 400 extra homes where no housing is currently allowed. This change will cost the taxpayers in both increased taxes and loss of our rural environment." The information came in a release sent to Patch Wednesday morning.

If approved, a commercial-mixed use overlay (CMU) would be employed to build the retail giant. The advertisement for the meeting said the board will "have the ability to vote on the ordinance providing no commentary from the public necessitates any changes to the proposed ordinance."
"Supervisors [John] Funk and [Mark] Dunphy talk about the dire need for rateables," the press release stated. "The need to increase the tax base so as to ensure a revenue flow that will exceed the Township’s continuously increasing expenses. Is there an analysis the Board has examined that shows this? See article on the Myths of Ratables and others listed on this site. Supervisor McNeil offered reasons she is not in favor of this amendment. See the Guest Editorial."

CCOEV said it has plans of attending the meeting and presenting its concerns and encouraged residents of East Vincent and Spring City to attend. Patch will have the coverage.
