Spring City To Celebrate Sesquicentennial In August

Spring City's 150th birthday party continues with the Hot Air Balloon Festival, rides, vendors, live music, and more.

SPRING CITY, PA — Spring City's Sesquicentennial celebrations will continue on Aug. 11 and 12 as a series of festivals of events descend on the area.

The Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place Friday night, Aug. 11, at the Spring-Ford Youth Athletic League's facility.

The event will feature a launch of multiple hot air balloons, tethered balloon rides, vendors, food and live music. The event starts at 4 p.m. and admission is free, organizers said.

On Saturday, Aug. 12, the Sesquicentennial Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street. The parade will feature local community groups, first responders, elected officials, military vehicles and eight marching bands including the Spring-Ford High School Alumni Marching Band, the Spring-Ford Area Middle School Marching Unit, the Greater Overbook String Band, the Aqua String Band, the Bonsal Blues Band, the Philadelphia Freedom Band, the Allentown Hobo Band and the Whitehall Fife and Drum Band, according to event organizers.

After the parade, the party continues at Brown Street Park, where a 1967 time capsule will be opened and put on display. Food trucks, a beer garden, children's activities, and live music from Mr. Mody and Phoenix N2O will be on hand.

Fireworks will close out the celebrations at nightfall.
