SPRING CITY, PA — A Spring City man has been arrested for a road rage incident in which he tailed another car through two counties, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

John Robert Zeh, 38, of Spring City, was arrested after the incident on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 3, police said.

At around 3:40 p.m., troopers at the Pennsylvania State Police-Reading barracks received a call from a driver who said he'd been trailed by Zeh from Berks County in Montgomery County, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

The victim said that he was driving home from a friend's house in Birdsboro and was heading east on State Route 724 towards Pottstown when he started following a black Ford Focus.

As they were driving, the victim said that the Focus, driven by Zeh, began slowing down and speeding up for no apparent reason, according to the affidavit. Eventually, the Focus pulled over, and the victim drove past. The Focus then began tailgating the victim, drove into the lane of oncoming traffic to pass him again, and then slowed down again, police said.

Near the intersection of 72 and Unionville Road, while the Focus trailed the victim, the victim said that he saw Zeh point a handgun at him from the rearview mirror. He then heard a loud "pop," police said.

In North Coventry, near the intersection with Laurelwood Road, they stopped at red light. Zeh got out of the car and began yelling at the victim before the light turned green and the suspect drove away. Zeh got back in his car and started following again, police said.

Police eventually caught up with the pair on Route 100 in Montgomery County, where Zeh was arrested. A handgun matching the victim's description was found in Zeh's car.

Zeh faces charges of carrying a firearm without license, simple assault, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and related counts, court documents show. His bail was set at $5,000.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 3.
