Spring City Pair Stole Hundreds Of Pieces Of Mail From Area: Police

Towns along the Schuylkill River were hit by the thieves, whose reportedly prevented at least one victim from voting in the election.

SPRING CITY, PA — Two Spring City residents stole more than 700 pieces of mail around Chester and Montgomery counties recently, police announced.

Joshua Lee Hartmann, 41, and Jessica Michelle Zipkin, 33 were charged last week by Tredyffrin Township Police. In addition to Tredyffrin and Spring City, the pair stole mail in Malvern, Lower Providence, Upper Providence, Schuylkill, and Phoenixville, according to police and 6ABC.

Residents are urged to monitor their financial statements from banks, credit card companies, and more for any suspicious activity due to the nature of the crimes, police said. Additionally, police said residents may want to run credit histories to ensure they weren't victims of this theft operation.

One victim was unable to vote last year due to the mail theft operation, police said.

Hartmann and Zipkin face numerous charges including receiving stolen property, identity theft, tampering with records, and more. They're scheduled for Feb. 29 preliminary hearings. Zipkin is free on $50,000 bail while Hartmann is still in custody, according to court documents.
