Spring-Ford Athletics Shine Through
Monday night's Board of Education meeting yielded many awards for Spring-Ford athletics.
Athletic Director Mickey McDaniel presented awards to outstanding coaches and athletes on Monday night at the board of education meeting. Awarded persons included:
- GIrls' Track for winning the 2011 PAC-10 girls' 100-meter hurdle and 300-meter hurdle championships
- Damien Boham (boys' track) for winning the 2011 PAC-10 boys' 400-meter championship
- James Rizzuto (boys' track) for winning the 2011 PAC-10 boys' discus championship
- Damien Boham, Xavier Ingram, Mike Novarina and Joe O'Suche (boys' track) for winning the 2011 PAC-10 boys' 4x400-meter championship
- Tyler Triolo (boys' tennis) for winning the 2011 PAC-10 boys' singles championship
- Blake Emerson and Tyler Triolo (boys' tennis) for winning the 2011 PAC-10 boys' doubles championship
- Spring-Ford High School baseball team and coaches Bruce Brobst, Jerry ROgers, Jamie Scheck and Michael Heffernan for winning the 2011 PAC-10 Championship.
McDaniel also mentioned that Medlar Field at Lubrano Park (State College, Pa.) field personnel came over to him after the game and couldn't believe how clean the dugout was.
"They said it was cleaner after the game than when we arrived," McDaniel said. "That's a congratulations to you, the baseball team, and a thanks for all you do."

Superintendent Martha Hurda also recognized McDaniel's efforts throughout the year.
"It's important to recognize one of the hardest people I've ever worked with in you," said Hurda. "If there's ever a task that needs to be done, you either do it or you volunteer your wife Becky to do it. Thank you!"
