Spring-Ford schools move up in publication's annual ranking

The Pittsburgh Business Times ranked 500 Pennsylvania school districts. Spring-Ford ranked 40th, while five other districts from the region were in the top 10.

The Spring-Ford Area School District has been ranked 40th out of 500 school districts in the state in performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment Exams (PSSA) by the Pittsburgh Business Times.  The district moved up from 2010, when it ranked 60th in the survey.

The rankings are based on three years of students' PSSA results, with the most recent year given the most weight. In January, the Spring-Ford school board in PSSA scores.

According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, a sister publication of the Pittsburgh Business Times, five school districts in the greater Philadelphia region were ranked in the top ten. They were:

  • Tredyffrin-Easttown School District (#2)
  • Unionville-Chadds Ford School District (#3)
  • Radnor Township School District (#4)
  • Lower Merion School District (#7)
  • Central Bucks School District (#8)

Nearby, the Perkiomen Valley School District ranked 48th, while Owen J. Roberts ranked 45th and Pottsgrove School District ranked 285th.

For the sixth straight year, the top-ranked school district in the state was Upper St. Clair School District in Allegheny County.
