Spring-Ford sixth grader wins art prize
For the fourth straight year, a Spring-Ford student has placed in a contest sponsored by the Pennsylvania American Water company.

A Spring-Ford Intermediate School student has been awarded one of the top prizes in the ninth annual “Protect Our Watersheds” Art Contest, sponsored by Pennsylvania American Water. The company received more than 530 entries from Pennsylvania students in grades four, five, and six.
Spring-Ford sixth-grader McKenna Vettori won third place for eastern Pennsylvania for her artwork depicting a clean stream with fish and water fowl, titled “Watersheds are everywhere, so let’s do our share.” This marks the fourth consecutive year that the school has earned recognition in the contest. In 2010, Spring-Ford’s Taylor Ruffo took first place for eastern Pennsylvania and the overall grand prize. McKenna will receive a gift card for her winning entry.
"It’s very refreshing to see so many students using their imagination and creativity to express the need to protect our watersheds," said Kathy L. Pape, president of Pennsylvania American Water. "We believe the contest is a fun and meaningful way to help them better understand the importance of environmental stewardship.”
