St. Eleanor's Elects Not to Appeal Merger

However, Sacred Heart did make an appeal and awaits the decision.

“Based on an overwhelming majority vote by the school parents, () presented an appeal to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on Jan. 17, 2012,” Bill Breslawski, a Sacred Heart parent and finance council member, said in an email Tuesday.

The archdiocese was scheduled to begins its final appeals hearings Wednesday. By Feb. 15, Archbishop Charles J. Chaput will make his final decision on closings and mergers.

Although Sacred Heart presented its appeal, St. Eleanor’s elected not to appeal the merger recommendation. Breslawski said the archdiocese required all schools that are part of a merger to appeal the recommendation.

Still, Sacred Heart pressed forward.

“The members of the appeal team thought the presentation went well but know the final outcome is now in God’s hands,” Breslawski said.
