State Firefighter Convention Leaves Kimberton, Royersford Celebrating
Royersford Fire Company's Engine 98 took two awards while the Spring-Ford bands also made their mark at the PA Firefighter's Parade.
ROYERSFORD, PA — Limerick Fire Department hosted the annual Firefighters' Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention under beautiful clear blue skies as hundreds of firefighting apparatus paraded along Ridge Pike on Saturday.
In the week's convention competitions, local departments had reason to come away proud. In the Sept. 25 parade display, Kimberton Fire Company took a first-place award for most functional or appearing platform or tower. The Birdsboro Union Fire Department took a first most functional or appearing light rescue or rescue pumper.
Royersford Fire Department earned two awards; Engine 98 won a second-place award as the most functional and appearing engine, and Ladder 98 claimed third place award as the most functional and appearing aerial ladder.

RFD said, "Hours of cleaning, organization, and preparation paid off as RFD took home awards in two categories!"
"Thank you to Chief (Ken) Schuler and the members of the Limerick Fire Department for hosting a world-class State Firemen's Convention," Royersford Fire Department said on social media.

Spring-Ford Area School District bands made their mark among the musicians. The Spring-Ford Middle School Band took first place as best appearing high school or university marching band, with a trophy and a $1,000 prize, and the Spring-Ford Senior High School Golden Ram Band took second place as best appearing high school or university marching band and earned a prize of $500.
Also in the area, Cub Scout Pack 230 of Limerick claimed a first-place judges' award while the University of Pennsylvania PennStar Helicopters took third in the judges' award.
Upper Pottsgrove Fire Company, took a second-place award for most functional and appearing brush or field unit.
During the Sept. 25 events, as Limerick Fire Company was acting as host, the Mt. Penn Fire Company and the Exeter Township Fire Department stepped in to make sure Limerick Township was safe, according to a social media post by Limerick Fire Company.
